Here’s a Pediatric Dentist in Pleasant Grove with Hospital Privileges
June 26, 2018
You’d do anything for the health and safety of your children. We would, too. That’s why our dentists have full access to the Dallas and Fort Worth Children’s Medical Center location for large cases and for children who need general anesthesia. A pediatric dentist in Pleasant Grove is dedicated to making sure your child can receive the dental care he or she needs, whether in the office or in a hospital setting.
Pediatric Dental Services in the Hospital
The children’s dentist in Pleasant Grove is expertly trained to treat children with special needs. Using the most advanced techniques including general anesthesia, we take great care to make sure your child is safe and comfortable during any procedure. A hospital setting provides an extra measure of safety that is not available to us in the office. Also, in the hospital, we are able to provide complete dental care for children who are medically, physically or mentally challenged.
Early Smile Care
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends parents schedule an initial visit for children before they are one-year-old, or when that first tooth starts to erupt. We understand that this may seem a bit young for your infant to come to the dentist. However, this appointment allows a pediatric dentist to analyze the development of your child’s smile and occlusion (bite) as well as their facial structure.
After this first visit, dental checkups for children with special needs should be scheduled twice each year, which is the same frequency that we recommend for all of our pediatric dental patients.
At these appointments, one of our hygienists will clean your child’s teeth, count them and take digital x-rays when necessary. The dentist will check each tooth for signs of a cavity, evaluate the condition of their gums, and recommend fluoride treatments or dental sealants for cavity protection.
Fluoride is a mineral that has been proven to strengthen enamel, you child’s first defense against the bacteria and acids that can lead to decay. Dental sealants consist of a clear formula that is painted on the chewing surfaces of your child’s molars to create a physical barrier between teeth and bacteria.
If you have a child with special needs, be sure to see a pediatric dentist in Pleasant Grove who has hospital privileges. We will do our very best to give your child the comfortable dental health care he or she deserves.
