Need Oral Surgery in Northwest Dallas? Come See Us!
August 16, 2018
If you need oral surgery in Northwest Dallas, you may be nervous, and that’s completely understandable. But when you trust your care to an experienced team of experts, you can rest assured that your smile is in good hands and that your risk of complications is next to nothing. Here are Bear Creek Family Dentistry, we’re proud to be able to perform three types of oral surgery in a comfortable and caring environment.
Tooth Extraction
If you have a damaged or decayed tooth, the first thing we’ll do is analyze options for saving it. However, if that just is not possible, we may have to perform an extraction. In some cases, the procedure is as simple as numbing the area around the tooth and then using forceps to gently remove it.
In other cases, such as when a tooth is only partially erupted, extraction is a bit more complicated. Before your procedure, we’ll talk to you about exactly how we are going to take the tooth out and what you can expect during and after your treatment.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom tooth extraction has become something of a rite of passage for many young adults. This procedure is often necessary because if these third molars are left in the mouth, they can push your other teeth out of place, increase your risk of infection, and cause you a significant amount of pain.
If your wisdom teeth need to be removed, we’ll sedate you and then get to work on extracting them. Sometimes, we must break a tooth into multiple pieces in order to get it out of the mouth. Because this may be a fairly complex procedure, you’ll have to take a few days off of work or school afterward so you can recover.
Dental Implant Placement
If you have one or more missing teeth, you may be able to fill in those gaps with dental implants in Northwest Dallas. Many practices have to refer patients elsewhere so they can get the implants placed within their jawbone, but we are qualified to perform the surgery in-house!
During the procedure, we’ll make a small incision in your gums and then insert the implants at strategic locations. After you’ve had some time to recover, and your jawbone has bonded with the implant posts, we’ll fit you with the teeth that will go on top of them.
We Care About Quality, Comfortable Care
Many general dentists can perform some types of oral surgery, but our team includes experts who have undergone extensive training in this area of dentistry. In fact, they are recognized as dental specialists and have gone through a hospital-based residency program to hone their operating skills.
The oral surgeon who performs your procedure will strive to make sure you are as comfortable as possible during and after your operation. You can be confident that you are in good hands!
