7 Ideas for Teeth-Healthy Stocking Stuffers
December 4, 2019
You’ve finally gotten all the toys for your son or daughter wrapped and put under the tree. You’ve bought cookies and milk to set out for Santa Claus. Yet it still feels like you’ve forgotten something… the stockings! You forgot to put gifts in them! Luckily, a dentist in Mesquite is here with a few ideas for last-minute stocking stuffers that are also healthy for your child’s teeth.
1. A New Toothbrush
Toothbrushes should be replaced every three months, so why not use the holidays as a reason to do so? Besides, everyone loves getting a new toothbrush, and kids are no exception. Get your child a toothbrush that lights up or plays music. You could also get one with their favorite cartoon character on it. The options are pretty much endless these days, so you can hardly go wrong, as long as the brush has soft bristles and a small head.
2. Lollipops or Chewing Gum Sweetened with Xylitol
Kids love getting sweet treats in their stocking. This year, get them something that’s good for their teeth. Xylitol is a sugar-free sweetener that has actually been shown to strengthen teeth and make them stronger in the fight against cavities.
3. Tooth Fairy Box
Does your child have any loose teeth? Is there a chance they might have some in the near future? Then why not give them a tooth fairy box? Just use a small carboard box that they can slip under their pillow for nights when the tooth fairy arrives.
4. Flavored Floss
From the time your little one has two teeth that touch, they should be flossing between them, even if you have to do it for them for a few years. There are all kinds of wacky flavors to get your child more into flossing, like strawberry, cupcake, and even bacon.
5. Sports Mouthguard
Your child should be wearing a mouthguard during all physical activities, even solo practice sessions. Even if your child already has one, getting a new one can always be exciting. You could get them at most pharmacies or sporting goods stores. Get one in your child’s favorite color to get them excited about wearing it.
6. Fun Toothbrush Holder
There are a lot of silly toothbrush holders out there. Find one with their favorite character or animal. This should help them look forward to brushing their teeth.
7. Small Fruits
Fruit contains vitamins that help fight gum disease. In fact, clementines were once a popular fruit to place in stockings. You can revive that tradition by putting them in your child’s stocking this year. Their teeth and gums will thank you!
