Why January is the Perfect Time to Schedule A Checkup
January 2, 2023
Dentists recommend that you come in for a regular checkup and cleaning at least twice a year. This allows them to take a look at the state of your oral health and to clean in places that you can’t reach with brushing and flossing alone.
If you’re reading this in January, good news! There’s no better time to schedule a dental checkup with your provider. If you want to know, here’s why January is the perfect time to schedule a checkup.
Holidays Are Hard on Teeth
In January, most people are just getting their life back on track after the holiday season. One of the big reasons why people try to lose weight in the new year is because they gained weight in November and December. It’s completely understandable; traveling over the holidays can throw off routines, and the food at holiday dinner can cause problems.
The same applies to dentistry. A lack of brushing and indulging in sweets can be rough on your teeth, and these things are easy to do over the holidays. That makes January the perfect time to undo that damage.
Meet Your Deductible
If you have dental insurance, meeting your deductible can make restorative treatment significantly cheaper. However, that can be difficult to do if you discover an oral health problem in, say, October. When you get a checkup in January, your dentist will perform a thorough exam to find any emerging problems, which gives you plenty of time to meet that deductible if you need follow-up treatments.
No Time Like Now
If you’re reading this as it comes out, January is the best time to get a checkup because that’s the soonest you can get one. The fact of the matter is that there’s no time like the present to ensure that your oral health is in order. The worse your oral health gets, the harder your problems will be to solve; on the contrary, starting treatment now can make treatment significantly easier.
It’s never a bad idea to start taking your oral health seriously. But if you need an incentive, January is a great time to start.
